Kevin Yu
KEVIN YU | JUNIOR DESIGNER
Born and raised in Taiwan, Kevin was exposed to the contrasting worlds of Western and Eastern architecture and culture from an early age. Growing up between Kaohsiung, Taipei, and the Silicon Valley, he developed a unique perspective on design. Driven by this growing interest, he moved to California to pursue a degree in Architecture at Calpoly San Luis Obispo, where he graduated in 2019 with a B.A. in Architecture.
Throughout his college years, Kevin sought to deepen his understanding of these diverse influences by studying in both Tokyo and Los Angeles. Immersed in these cities, he witnessed firsthand the distinct values and approaches embraced by the local architects, further enriching his multicultural background. Drawing inspiration from his travels, Kevin approaches every design challenge with a fresh perspective, aiming to recreate the captivating spaces he encountered along his journey. After honing his skills as a designer in San Luis Obispo, where he contributed to a wide range of projects, including wineries, mixed-use commercial buildings, and single-family residential buildings, he joined the team at jmA in 2023.
Outside of the office, he can be found on a quest to discover the next hidden gem of a restaurant. Alternatively, he daydreams of cruising down Highway 1, basking in the scenic beauty of the central coast.
